EYTS Deceptive Flexibility 1
March 31 - April 5 2020
Downingtown Yoga & Meditation Center, Downingtown PA
You may have some students who are able to move very far into poses, maybe further than you! They pay a very high cost for this deceptive flexibility. Their spinal muscles work overtime and their hip ligaments are over-stretched. This causes an instability in their hip joints and tremendous spinal compression, which can lead to early hip replacement surgery, arthritis in their hips and/or spine as well as serious digestive problems.
“I am happy to be able to serve my students who are in need of these techniques. It will give them a new experience of their body.”
“It is one of the best trainings you could do to increase your aliveness in your body and mind.”
Svaroopa® yoga helps heal the damage they are unknowingly causing. This Continuing Ed course teaches you how to spot hyperflexible students as well as how to prop them (or yourself!) for maximum effectiveness. Most importantly, you learn how to work with their minds to transcend the ‘picture perfect’ paradigm they’ve brought from dance backgrounds, other yoga styles or athletic practices.
This professional training also serves as the prerequisite for Deceptive Flexibility 2, a program which debuted in 2017. Focusing on strenuous poses, you learn to do them in a way that creates deep spinal release while strengthening and stabilizing your joints. Deceptive Flexibility 2 is available for graduates of YTT Level 3.
