A New Paradigm

You learn a new approach to yoga poses from your very first day in a training. Our focus is spinal release rather than stretching and strengthening. We protect your joints in the poses, targeting deeper layers, dissolving spinal tensions.

You experience the profound difference in your own body, and simultaneously you learn new terminology to describe how the poses work.

        • Instead of “pressing” or “pushing,” we “lean” and “anchor.”
        • We don’t “relax,” we “soften” and “sink.”
        • Rather than stretching or lengthening, we “align” and “extend.”

The words matter!

Developing your new vocabulary begins with your experience of the poses - easing into precise pose alignments and staying in the pose longer than you might expect. This is a slow yoga, with pauses to allow the physical changes to also dissolve old mental-and-emotional patterns.

We pair compassion with precision, using customized props and hands-on adjustments. When training to teach, first you experience the effects personally, then learn how to move others through the process.

You are prepared to teach yoga in all its dimensions and support your students as they discover more about themselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Plus, getting Shaktipat from Swami Nirmalananda in the training was such a boon, propelling us into deeper explorations in our meditations. — Soraya P.
