Shree Guru Gita 9 and 10

Gurur buddhyatmano nanyat

satyam satyam na samshaya-ha,

tallabhartham prayatnas tu

kartavyo hi manishibhi-hi. (verse 9)

Guru and Self are not distinct.

Beyond doubt, I repeat this truth.

Thus the wise make effort to find

their Guru and attain that state.

Gudha-vidya jagan-maya

dehe ca'nyana-sambhava,

udayo yatprakashena

gurushabdena kathyate. (verse 10)

Birth is into not-knowingness,

spellbound by Maya’s worldly dance.

Giver of the upwelling light

of your own Self is called Guru.
