FAQ'S — Therapeutics Yoga Training
Question: I have taken YTT courses, TOT and/or YogaBody. Will there be a bridge program for me to get into the therapeutics training track?
♥ Answer: Yes! It’s coming soon!
The first training in our new therapeutic curriculum is Therapeutic Yoga Training — A. This means there will be a Therapeutic Yoga Training — B. Other components of the program will be available in 2027, with more information coming in the fall.
Basically, Foundations has gotten an upgrade. Therapeutic Yoga Training — A is Foundations with online sessions before and after the immersion. The online sessions prepare you to teach online! YogaBody poses excel in this venue.
If you have taken Foundations, you don’t have to retake it. The online sessions will be available as a bridge program, qualifying you to go on to Therapeutic Yoga Training — B and other trainings as they become available.
All of this will become available in 2027, with more details in the fall of 2026.
Question: When will the bridge program information be available?
♥ Answer: In the fall.
Gurudevi is currently designing the bridge program. She will look at all the possible combinations of courses that teachers could have taken. From this she will be able to create a bridge for them to enter our new trainings. More information will be available in the fall of 2026.
Question: Can I take just the DTS portion of the program? I wish to learn how to more effectively use the poses I learned in TOT and YogaBody. Learn a new paradigm for structuring my classes, totally focused on therapeutics.
♥ Answer: How wonderful that you have these YogaBody poses already. And yes, the new paradigm for structuring your classes is important. It is interwoven into the online sessions of Therapeutic Yoga Training — A. DTS will no longer be a separate part of the Teacher Trainings.
When the bridge program is ready, you will likely be so excited about it that you will want to take it! Much of it or all of it will be online, so it will be easier to do than if you have to travel and be away from home (as wonderful as a yogimmersion can be).
Question: Will there still be a Foundations for those who are not interested in teaching but interested in their own development?
♥ Answer: Yes. We can still teach Foundations when people want it. But it won’t have the YogaBody poses. You wouldn’t want to miss out on them. They are incredibly more powerful, while being easier and even fun.
Foundations is being upgraded to Therapeutic Yoga Training — A. Basically it is Foundations with six weeks of online sessions before the immersion and six weeks online after.
If you are not interested in teaching, you may certainly take either training for your own yogic development. You simply won’t do the teaching homework. That means you wouldn’t be qualified to go on to other courses that rely on it as a prerequisite. But you will know how to deepen your yoga in some wonderful ways.
Question: I am a YTT 2 grad. I am considering YTT 3 & 4 being offered for the last time. Now there is this new training. Which should I take?
♥ Answer: You choose. Or you can take both. Here’s more information to help you decide.
YTT 3 & 4 teach you the classical poses, like you see in every yoga book and video. Six themes are covered:
- Forward Bends
- Neck & Shoulders
- Balance & Inversions
- Classical Poses
- Vinyasa
- Seated Poses & Twists
The classical pranayamas and mudras are also included. This is classical yoga — with the Svaroopa® yoga perspective, which teaches you how to get spinal release in challenging poses. These poses challenge you physically but also transform your relationship with your body, and thus with the world.
The above teaching themes are more advanced. They do not focus on therapeutics – they are not remedial. They take you into the next step of asana and give you the tools to continue to progress. Remember, Gurudevi took Teacher Trainings in four different systems before she created Svaroopa® yoga.
Our new therapeutics trainings give you accessible poses to teach, whether your classes are Online or On-Site. They provide deep spinal release, thus ending back and neck pain and helping to remedy almost every condition in the book. Svaroopa® yoga has always been therapeutic, and is now even more so with the YogaBody poses.
Therapeutic means remedial. Remedial means that people need a remedy. When they come in to remedy their body problems, they get better within a few classes. Then they go back to their previous lifestyle, whether it is cycling, jogging or couch potato. This means you do more marketing, as you always have space for new students.
Since their previous lifestyle probably caused the problems that brought them in before, they are likely to come back. So you repeat the process with them. Again. They want a remedy, not a new lifestyle.
If you like to help people who are limping, you want to teach therapeutics. If you like to move people forward, inspiring them to expand their yoga repertoire, you want the more advanced poses. And you will be inspiring yogis to a deeper commitment to their practice and classes, which means many of them will stick with you for years, even decades.
If you want to teach online, you need the therapeutics to be effective. Otherwise, you’re all just going through the motions and having a good time together, like jumping out of the car at a stop sign and everyone running around it, just to get back in the car and drive off.
And Gurudevi adds, "If you want to make money as a teacher, you need (1) to teach online and (2) to use the therapeutics, so you can offer a result worth what they are paying you."
Question: I only teach yoga classes in-person. Will the new training require me to teach online? Or is it okay that I only teach the new protocols in-person?
♥ Answer: All the YogaBody poses work On-Site as well as online. You will not be required to teach online.
But you may find that it is useful, for when students move away or are gone for the summer. Or even when you take an extended time away but want to teach from your temporary location.
Or you may simply want to reach more people, to see their lives transform, to see their faces light up and their hearts open along with their spine.
Question: For those interested in the training who are already going to India, will there be a workaround for dates where the training overlaps?
♥ Answer: Yes, there will be a workaround. We will have full information for you in the fall.
Question: I have a personal trip that overlaps one of the online dates, is it okay to miss one online class?
♥ Answer: Unfortunately not. When you miss a class, you cannot attend the next one. This is a professional training, where the skills you acquire in one class apply to the next.
In a regular weekly yoga class, the teacher builds repetition into their lesson plans.
One reason is that students are only in a pose for 5 or 8 minutes, so they’re not expected to master it the first time around.
The other reason is that any student can miss a class, then return and want to catch up with what they missed. Every yoga teacher is happy when this happens.
In a professional training, every class session is important. They are all required attendance.
One reason is that we spend 2-3 hours on a pose. You can’t make that up in the next session because we are moving on to the next pose.
Also, we respect your time and money. If we made the training more spacious, you’d be paying for empty space. Each class is rich and full of essential information for you to grow and develop as a teacher.
So what can you do? Since it is an online class, maybe you can attend in whatever location you are located. Or you could wait for the next class series to be offered, with dates that hopefully work better for you.
Our policy continues to be: if you miss a class in a Teacher Training, you may not attend the following ones in the series.
