In the Now: Tadaa Drashtuh
By Gurudevi Nirmalananda and Group
Sing the third sutra from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras with Gurudevi. It is a great promise, that you will abide in your own Divine Essence.
Patanjali placed this sutra immediately after defining what yoga is, “Yoga is the stilling of your mind.” First, the sage tells you to quiet your mind and then promises what will happen. The bliss of pure Beingness arises to fill you completely every time you settle your mind into stillness.
This is the sutra from which Svaroopa® yoga takes its name. It names what happens when you do our spinal release practice. This is the true purpose of yoga, that you will know your own svaroopa.
Verse 1
Tadaa drashtuh svaroope ‘vasthaanam
In the moment (your mind is still), you abide in your own Divine Essence.
Verse 2
Shivo’ham Shivo’ham
[Thus you know] I am Shiva, I am Shiva.
