Namah
By Gurudevi Nirmalananda
Namah means to honor, to bow to.
Being a Westerner, the first time I bowed to my Guru’s photo, it was hard for me. If I had been raised in Japan or India, bowing would have been part of my life from the beginning.
My Western upbringing did not make space to acknowledge someone knowing more than me – even when they did.
Fortunately, I got over it fast, once I discovered how bowing increased the bliss I could take in from my Guru.
Now I can bow to anyone, to everyone. I bow to you, for the Divine Reality is full and intact within you, being you.
Track 1: Introductory Mantras (1:38)
These chants invoke the blessings of Ganesha and of Guru – the divine in celestial form and the divine within the human being. The words for all these chants are in Yoga’s Sacred Sounds: Chants of Svaroopa® Yoga.
Track 2: Om Namah Shivaya – Ganeshpuri melody (20:04)
First my Guru gave me his mantra. Then he gave me myself. Or maybe it was the other way around… So I sing the mantra he gave me, and offer it to you. If you accept this mantra, it will give you your own self.
Track 3: Nirmalam
This song is a celebration that begins with my own name, celebrating all the reality within me which is the reality within all. That reality is beyond all, yet it is the one reality that is being all – including you.
Track 4: Om Guru Mere Guru
I honor my Guru, for he is the one who gave me my own Self. Yet my own Self is the one I see when I look at him. Inside and outside, there is only One.
